Dr Tapani Vaahtoranta starts as Programme Director in Dar es Salaam on 1 March

Dr Tapani Vaahtoranta will start as Programme Director in the newly established Dar es Salaam Institute for Sustainable Development (DISD) in Dar es Salaam on 1 March.
DISD is based on a mutual agreement between the Tanzanian and Finnish Governments. Dr Vaahtoranta’s mission, which is estimated to last till the end of 2012, is financed by the Finnish Foreign Ministry and managed by HAUS. The Programme Director will give guidelines to and set the basis for the training and development policy of DISD.
Simultaneously HAUS is deployed in the DISD technical assistance project, also financed by the Finnish Foreign Ministry, to build the institution and create capacity for civil servants in Tanzania and Eastern Africa on sustainable development.
